The BMI or Body Mass Index calculator is estimated for adults and gives you an idea of the status of your health based on your height and weight.

The General understanding of the BMI in relation to your weight and health is as follow 's

BMI 18.5 and below

This is considered under weight and could lead to having a poor nutritinal status and high risk of infections.Increasing your weight to an average of 22 BMI may result in increased energy levels and reduced risk.

BMI 18.5 to 25

While this is considered to be a healthy BMI status Women tend to be most comfortable with a BMI of 22

BMI 25 to 30

A higher BMI indicates a greater risk of several diseases including hypertension(high blood pressure), hyperlipidaemia(high blood cholesterol and other fats), diabetes mellitus(sugar diabetes) and the risk of strokes and heart attacks,  cardiovascular disease, hypertension, stroke, gallbladder disease, osteoarthritis, sleep apnoea and even some types of cancer.

BMI 30 +

This is considered obese and extreme measures should be considered to reduce weight, Visit your local doctor for advise if you have not all done so.

Readings will be overestimated for athletes and muscular individuals while readings will be underestimated in older individuals and people who have lost muscle.
